TOP 20 TRIO

Two Team Troon members and a Troon investor carded Top 20 finishes at The Memorial in Ohio last weekend, marking one of the group’s most successful outings this season. Troon investor Rory McIlroy entered the final round in a three-way tie for the lead, but a final round 75 dropped him into a tie for seventh overall, still his fourth Top 10 finish of the season. Ending in a tie for 19th, Matt Fitzpatrick notched his eighth Top 20 of the year, while Gary Woodland landed his fifth Top 20 result of the season, and third Top 14 or better in his last six tournaments, with a tie for 12th. Alex Noren finished tied for 46th while Matt Kuchar bounced back from an opening round 78 with rounds of 67 and 69 before a final round 84 dropped him to 62nd place.

Justin Thomas missed the cut for just the second time this season. This week defending champion McIlroy (who also won in 2019) will head north along with Fitzpatrick and Kuchar to compete in the RBC Canadian Open being played at Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto.

At the Principal Charity Classic in Iowa, Colin Montgomerie finished tied for 38th after three rounds of 70. He heads to University Ridge Golf Course in Wisconsin this weekend for the American Family Insurance Championship, where he finished tied for 14th last year.

Although Yealimi Noh, who missed the cut at last week’s inaugural Mizuho Americas Open played at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey, is not in the field at this week’s ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by ACER, there is still a Troon connection. The tournament is being played on the Donald Ross-designed Bay Course at the Troon-managed Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway, New Jersey, just northwest of Atlantic City. The 54-hole event runs from Friday through Sunday.
