The Swede & the Scot

While most of Team Troon had last week off, Alex Noren and Colin Montgomerie were in action and both made the most of their respective starts in Texas. At the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Noren carded his third best finish of the season, a tie for 29th, thanks to three sub-70 rounds. The Swede, along with Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick, Gary Woodland, Matt Kuchar and Troon investor Rory McIlroy, will tee it up at this weekend’s Memorial Tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus at his Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.

Over in Frisco, Colin Montgomerie finished tied for 15th at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. He moved up one spot to 17th in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup and now has four consecutive Top-25 finishes. Not to jinx him, but Montgomerie currently has the longest streak of Most Consecutive Fairways hit (50) on PGA CHAMPIONS! He heads to Iowa this weekend for the Principal Charity Classic.

Yealimi Noh is back in action on the LPGA Tour at this week’s inaugural Mizuho Americas Open being played at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. Noh and her LPGA colleagues will be joined in the field by 24 of the America Junior Golf Association top-ranked female golfers. That element, plus the stunning views of the nearby Statue of Liberty and the New York City skyline, should make for a very memorable tournament.
